Cockscomb, especially those with red flowers is a favourite plant during Chinese New Year because it's red flowers brighten up the home. It requires well-drained, fertile soil. Water regularly and give occasional mist spray. Place it in a sunny sheltered spot.

I've grown this Spider Lily for more than a year already, and it was almost thrown away by my mum as it's not doing well. Good things are worth the wait, I supposed. I spotted the sprouting a few days earlier, and I intent to following it's development until it re-joined the garden fairy eventually.

Yup, looks like they are not so "open". They just stayed this way, but recently, there are more 'flowers' in each cluster.

This tropical plant can grow up to heights of 2m and is normally grown in pots, gardens or sometimes even as a fence. The simple variegated leaves are placed alternately along the slender stem. The red and purple folwers are found at the terminal end of the stems. Both the leaves and stems, when damaged, ooze a milky sap. Posioning causes vomiting and abdominal plan.
