A smal spiny shrub commonly found in gardens. It has red or yellow paired flowering bracts. The stems are spiny with dark green leaves. The plant oozes whiet sap when damaged. The sap can cuase dermatitis when in contact with skin. [A Guide to Toxic Plants in Singapore]
